Teacher and Coach

In great demand as a teacher of Flute and Piccolo, Artist as Entrepreneur, Creativity and Chamber Music coach, her students have won positions in the Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Ft. Wayne Philharmonic , Rochester Philharmonic and Oregon Symphony, among others.  They have been prize winners in national and local competitions. Her chamber ensemble coaching includes all instruments, ages and genres and recently has given clinics and Masterclasses at Bowdoin College, University of New Hampshire, Ithaca College and Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

Her students have participated in major festivals including Tanglewood, Aspen, Interlochen and select ensembles such as the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, Contemporary Youth Orchestra, Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony, Apollo’s Fire Baroque Orchestra and Akron Symphony Youth Orchestra. Career paths include Recording Artists, New York and Boston freelance musicians, Medical doctors, scientists, NASA, Actuarial science, engineers, mathematicians, Wooden Flutist (London), Arts Administration, Ethnomusicology, Instrument Repair Technician and Music Education. Mary Kay’s faculty appointments include Franklin Pierce University, Case Western Reserve University, The Cleveland Institute of Music, Ithaca College and The University of Akron.
